We are all catching
onto the idea that
double glazing, insu-
lation, heaters, heat pumps
and fireplaces make us
toasty and warm.
However, did you ever think
of those smaller things you
can do to keep yourself
warm during the winter
These are things that cost
little to nothing, and provide
an instant source of heat,
even if only for a short while.
1. Sometimes warmth is a
matter of perception. Are
you surrounded by cold
colours and items? Match it
up a bit, change your decor.
Warm colours and textures
make you feel warmer.
2. Are your floors bare?
Cover up those floors with a
rug, not only is it warm on
your feet but it also gives
that warm perception.
3. Bake something. The
weather is miserable out-
doors and you are stuck
inside watching telly. Bake
something tasty. Stews,
roasts, casseroles and soups
are perfect for the cold
weather because they cook
at low temperatures for a
long period of time. They
give the house a tasty
aroma, leave the kitchen
toasty and warm, and they
warm you up when eaten.
4. Cold hands? Wrap your
hands around a delicious
cup of tea, coffee or hot
chocolate. Tasty going
down, warm to the touch,
and provides that instant
heat you desire.
5. During winter we get that
brilliant sun, however cold it
may be. During the day,
open your curtains and
blinds and let that sun in.
The cold stays out but you
get those gorgeous rays
6. Cold in bed? Flannel
sheets, a blanket under-
neath, extra blankets on top
and of course, an electric
7. Sometimes all we need is
to get our blood pumping.
How better to achieve this
than with some cleaning!
Put some music on, dance
around and get cleaning!
8. Cover your head. It's not a
well known fact but if your
head is cold, the rest of your
body is. Wear a hat, scarf and
