Unveiling plans for South City
THESE are based on what you told us
youd like to be able to do and buy, what
services you want and how youd like the
area to look and feel. And although theres
stll a fair way to go with Council approvals
and things, we are really excited by the
designs and hope you will be as well.
All will be revealed at a public informaton
meetng on Sunday, October 28 from
1pm 3pm (see below for more details)
so please come along. Your feedback
and endorsement is critcal as we will be
relaying this to Council the following day.
Two major sponsors help
Operaton Zero Rubbish
South Alive has announced Southland Real Estate and the Invercargill City Council
as its two major sponsors for the Zero Rubbish project.
SOUTHLAND Real Estate Manager, Gus Johnston
said that he was really pleased to be able to
support a project which would help residents
address an issue which theyd identfed as a
big concern to them. Southland Real Estate has a
long history of business involvement in South
Invercargill and its good to be able to work with
the community on this project, he said.
Neil Boniface, Councils Urban Rejuvenaton
portolio leader, said it was a great project to
support. Everyone wants to live in a clean
and well-kept environment and Zero rubbish
will really set an example for all of Invercargill
and beyond. Its excitng to see a community
take charge of creatng the environment
it wants,he said.
Not only will our sponsors provide funding,
they are also going to adopt an area themselves
and keep it rubbish free. So look out for
Southland Real Estate agents cleaning up the area along Elles Road from Tweed to Crinan Street
and the two green belt areas alongside. Also look out for Invercargill City Councillors and staff
cleaning up in their adopted area, Elles Road from Crinan to Dalrymple Street, including Russell
Square. Toot your support and thanks SRE and ICC!
So, come on South, lets show whats possible! invite your neighbours, your organisaton or
just yourself and adopt a block, street or park. Call Janet to register your choice on 2186882.
VOLUNTEERS have spent hours paintng,
plastering, woodworking and cleaning and
through their efforts the office is looking
great. There is a large table for drop in
visitors to work at and for meetngs, along
with free wi-f and a seatng area to just sit
around and talk.
The shop hours will depend on how many
people volunteer to staff it, so please let us
know if you are able to help in a regular tme
slot each week.
We warmly invite and encourage all South
Invercargill residents to just drop by and
say hello and let us know any suggestons
and comments you have about whats being
done and what youd like to see happen.
Of course, if youd like to volunteer
to help in any way, we have unlimited
Perhaps our most excitng project to date? Since our workshops
with local businesses, children, artsts and South Invercargill
residents in August weve been actvely working with our
designer and the Council to develop concept plans.
These sponsors keep
the South Alive!
